Dampha Kunda Diaspora Goals

These comprise our long-term plans, aims and objectives, which we aim to achieve over the coming decades. They define our purpose of being and visions set out in our mission statement. The goals of the Dampha Kunda Diaspora Organisation are as follows.

Healthcare is a fundamental human right, not a luxury. Yet, for hundreds of millions of people worldwide, it is something that they cannot access due to financial and socioeconomic reasons beyond their control. We've seen in recent years how important good health is at any level, either personal or community hygiene and the country as a whole. Its importance must be considered in any socioeconomic development strategy across all segments of society in a country's national development strategies.

Health is a fundamental basic principle of human rights for all, regardless of background, race, gender, or belief. Wherever you live, health facilities that are affordable and accessible must be provided by every state to its citizens. It is the backbone of the national economy.

Unfortunately, in The Gambia, the provision of essential healthcare services to support those rural communities is left behind. This effect has increased infant and maternal mortality at an alarming rate in the communities. Thousands of people in the rural Gambia population living under a fragile healthcare system around the country are suffering as a result of this putting more pressure on existing social and healthcare infrastructures because no urgent medical services facilities within to support the community outreach has negatively impacted them. 

That is why Dampha Kunda Diaspora Organisation was found to intervene in this challenging and fragile healthcare sector in the Gambia to support the existing system, particularly for the rural community. Our main goal is community development, most notably building a better healthcare facility that is affordable and accessible in Dampha Kunda and the surrounding villages to serve much-needed rural communities.

The good news is that you can help us distribute these essential healthcare services to rural communities with limited social and healthcare facilities access.  

Social Cohesion and its Elements

Dampha Kunda Diaspora Organisation is at the forefront of social cohesion. We believe and are passionate about unity, strengthening us and striving towards common goals to bring positive change and treat everyone in our community equally.

Our members contribute immensely towards our developmental strategies to promote social justice, fairness and objectivity. Everyone should have equal access to healthcare and the opportunity to thrive and succeed in the community regardless of background or circumstances through the sensitive approach of fairness and inclusion. Social cohesion helps to address systemic inequalities and promotes a more just society,

Promoting unity in community development encompasses elements such as trust, shared values, and social interactions, which contribute to a sense of belonging and solidarity among community members. The importance of social cohesion cannot be overstated, as it brings up understanding, cooperation, empathy, and resilience in the face of adversities, such as natural disasters, calamities and social injustice.

Dampha Kunda Diaspora Organisation's social cohesion policy is built upon a foundation of trust, mutual respect and understanding in the society. 

Where all members feel connected and valued in a family and friendly environment through dialogue and social interactions, everyone actively participates and contributes to the community's well-being. This sense of belonging enhances social capital, leading to increased collaboration and collective action for positive change. Unity is strength. Together, we can make a difference and foster selflessness, transparency and trustworthiness among all members.

Providing advice on physical and mental health by  community  healthcare personnel  such as  Community Health Nurses (CHN), Traditional Birth Attendance (TBA), and financial support to the communities who have been affected by natural disasters such as fire and disease outbreaks, flooding etc, through our emergency relief programme initiatives no fault of their own, and advise those who are going through, stress, depression and anxiety and, homelessness and trouble with law enforcement. Please help us to support those vulnerable people in the communities

We promote and preserve our cultures, traditions, norms, values and beliefs for the younger generation. Everyone should be treated with respect and dignity in a free and democratic society and have equal access to healthcare facilities is our mainly priority .
