OUR ACCOMPLISHED BRIDGE PROJECT

Dampha Kunda Diaspora  Organisation Bridge Construction  Project.

The road between Dampha kunda to  Basse  which is 7.3 KM  south Bank ,https://www.accessgambia.com/information/distances.html is  connected by bridge  which  was badly damaged caused by flooding to the extent that

It became dangerous and  unsafe for all road users such as  pedestrians, Donkey chart, Cars , vehicles  and motor bicycles  to cross over the bridge to reach  to their destination Basse Upper River region  the second large city in the Gambia.  It is the bridge that makes communication short and  easier route  from Dampha Kunda to Basse .This damaged bridge had caused numerous  road accidents resulting in serious injuries. The order was passed  by  to ceased using the  bridge  because it was unsafe , danger to life and  unfit for purpose.

This  has resulted  local communities  of Dampha Kunda and the surrounding villages taking alternative route  much  longer to reach Basse  where the main  Health Centre and  the trading hub  for the region  were situated .

Subsequently, Dampha Kunda Diaspora Organisation stepped in by organising a fund raising campaign, to  construct  damaged bridge  between  Dampha Kunda  Village and Basse in collaboration with Village Development Committee.

The fund raised was utilised on our bridge construction  project initiatives by  Dampha Kunda Diaspora Organisation to serve the interest  for sustainable in  the communities which was completed, this will enhance roads transport and communication for all users in coming years , which  exiting and helpful project  for the communities .  

The newly constructed bridge was inaugurated by Dampha Kunda Village community and the surrounding communities.
